Luchenza Municipal Constituency will begin constructing ground-plus-one school blocks in five wards under the 2026/27 Reformed Constituency Development Fund (RCDF).
Member of Parliament for Luchenza Municipal Constituency and Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chimwemwe Chipungu, announced the plans on Friday during the launch of the municipal RCDF in Luchenza.
The school construction projects will form part of the constituency’s first phase of development under the K5 billion fund, which aims to support development projects at constituency level.
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Dr Ben Malunga Phiri, who presided over the launch, warned contractors against corruption and mismanagement of public resources.
Phiri said the government would monitor projects to ensure accountability and value for money.
Luchenza Municipal Council Chief Executive Officer Precious Kamtsitsi said contractors had been recruited and project committees trained in resource management and corruption prevention to strengthen oversight of the projects.
