Business tycoon Leston Mulli has visited Deputy Inspector General of Police Noel Kaira at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre and condemned kidnapping as a threat to Malawi’s business environment and economy.
Mulli said the vice is not only evil but also retrogressive to the country’s economic development.
“We thank God for saving the two. Kidnapping remains evil. The Malawi Police Service has demonstrated professionalism,” he said.
He also praised the Malawi Police Service for its bravery and effectiveness in rescuing the British national who was kidnapped last week.
Kaira is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds sustained during yesterday’s operation to rescue the British national.
Other notable people who visited Kaira today include Vice President Jane Ansah, Homeland Security Minister Peter Mukhitho, Health Minister Madalitso Baloyi, Deputy Inspector General of Police Evalista Chisale and Inspector General of Police Richard Luhanga, among others.
The British national was kidnapped last week, with a K30 million bounty placed on the suspected perpetrators.
Police have since shot dead some of the suspected masterminds of the kidnapping.
