Mtumbuka Urges Marist Graduates to Dream Big

Member of Parliament for Rumphi Central Constituency, Dr. Matthews Mtumbuka, has urged graduating students at Marist Secondary School to dream big and pursue their ambitions with determination, saying success begins with having a vision and believing in oneself.

Speaking on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of 114 students at the Catholic institution in Dedza, Mtumbuka encouraged the graduates to set high goals and refuse to be limited by their circumstances.

“Dream big. Have no limits to your dreams. The beauty about life is about the freedom around dreams. There are no laws or rules limiting our dreams. You can dream as big as you like,” he said.

The legislator said young people should strive to excel regardless of the careers they choose, noting that society needs professionals from all fields.

“Whichever field you choose, just aim to be the best. Dream big and work hard consistently towards that goal. That way, you will be very successful regardless of your career choice,” he said.

Mtumbuka also prepared the students for the challenges that lie ahead, saying the path to success is often marked by setbacks and criticism.

“You will meet a lot of hurdles, challenges and even roadblocks. Be ready for that… They will bring you down but rise up and forge ahead with more zeal and determination. Never give up,” he said.

He further advised the graduates to cultivate self-belief and surround themselves with positive and hardworking people.

“Have self-belief – boost your self-esteem and celebrate your small achievements and milestones on your journey to greater success,” he said.

Marist Secondary School Chaplain Father Machumbuza said the country needs a new generation of leaders and politicians capable of addressing the many challenges facing Malawi and encouraged the graduates to consider serving the nation.

Provincial Councillor for the Marist Brothers in Malawi, Brother Jumbe, thanked Dr. Mtumbuka for taking time from his busy schedule to inspire the graduating class.

A total of 114 boys received testimonies and various academic credentials during the ceremony, marking the end of their four-year secondary education journey and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
