VP Ansah urges Catholic women to embrace hope and faith

MULANJE — Vice President Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah has urged Catholic women to remain hopeful during difficult times, saying the life of the Virgin Mary shows the importance of keeping faith even when the future is uncertain.

Speaking at the annual Umai wa Amai Maria celebration at Chisitu Parish in Mulanje, Dr Ansah said the gathering should go beyond celebrating Mary’s birthday.

She said the event, held under the theme “Mzimai wa Katolika Mtumiki wa Chiyembekezo pa Banja Pake,” gives women an opportunity to reflect on Mary’s life and perseverance.

Dr Ansah said Mary faced ridicule and other challenges but remained faithful, making her an example for women as mothers, daughters, leaders and role models.

She therefore encouraged the women to draw strength from Mary’s example whenever they face difficult moments.

Sister Advisor Sr Njala, speaking on behalf of the chairlady and Catholic women, welcomed Dr Ansah to the celebration saying the gathering helps women strengthen their faith and fellowship.

The celebration has attracted Catholic women from across the Archdiocese of Blantyre.
