A beneficiary in Midima Constituency in Chiradzulu has expressed gratitude to the Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF) for providing food assistance to vulnerable households struggling with hunger.
Simion Muhasuwa, one of the beneficiaries, said the donation has come at the right time as many families in the area are facing food shortages.
He said the support will help ease the burden for households that have been struggling to find enough food.
FGRF on Saturday distributed food packs to about 1,500 families in Midima Constituency as part of its efforts to assist communities affected by the current food crisis.
Member of Parliament for the area, Jean Sendeza Mathanga, who is also Malawi’s Minister of Energy and Mining, said nearly 40 percent of households in the constituency are facing hunger.
Mathanga thanked FGRF for the intervention, describing it as timely support for vulnerable families.
Director of Communications for FGRF, Ibrahim Omar Mataya, said the donation is part of the organisation’s Ramadan outreach programme aimed at assisting communities during the ongoing food crisis.
Apart from distributing food packs, the organisation also donated 30 medical crutches to people with physical disabilities as part of efforts to support vulnerable groups.
Mataya added that through the Ramadan outreach programme, FGRF has already assisted more than 21,000 people across different communities.
