A video has been circulating online, showing what is said to be Hon. Simplex Chithyola Banda’s warehouse, with claims that he is hoarding maize allegedly produced using fertilizer obtained through the NEEF program. For the record, Hon. Chithyola Banda has never benefited from or used that facility. He does not take things on credit—he works for what he owns.
Hon. Chithyola Banda belongs to the class of visionary entrepreneurs such as Napoleon Dzombe, Thom Mpinganjira, Simbi Phiri, and the Muli brothers—Malawians whose success stories are built on diligence, integrity, and enterprise. He is a man of principles who believes that wealth and progress are born out of hard work, not shortcuts.
Those who know him personally understand that he is either at the farm or in the office, even during odd hours. Farming is not a hobby for him; it is a passion and a livelihood. The harvests seen at his warehouses are the fruit of tireless effort and disciplined management. As a platinum farmer, he works the soil with his own hands, growing a variety of crops and keeping livestock on a large scale—proof of his industrious spirit.
From a young age, Simplex has been a darling of development partners because of his ability to generate transformative ideas that often turn into tangible results. Give him a task, and he delivers it with perfection. He has also built a family that reflects his values—rooted in faith, humility, and the philosophy of One Malawi, One People, One Nation.
His track record in public service speaks for itself. During his time in Parliament, every budget he presented passed with overwhelming support—even from both sides of the House. Returning Members of Parliament can testify to how he understood their concerns and worked tirelessly to improve MPs’ welfare.
Surprisingly, he is among the most hated by some of his own party gurus—the most ridiculed and castigated on social media, and perhaps the one they least wish to see succeed. Yet, these are the same individuals who have benefited from the proceeds of his hard work.
Hon. Chithyola Banda was born with a golden heart. He helps people from the little he has, and many can bear witness to his generosity. When he extends support, he goes beyond political affiliations—even when he is not given space or recognition within his own circles.
Simplex Chithyola Banda does not politicize everything. He chooses peace over hostility, as he once remarked:
“Life is too short to have enemies. We simply need to live our life and not cause pain to others.”
His policy contributions remain relevant today. Do you remember his 4 Fs—Forex, Fuel, Food, and Fertilizer—and his RDP framework: Recover, Develop, and Protect the Economy? The same vision echoes in national strategies today, including those articulated by His Excellency APM and the SVP designate Hon. Enock Chihana.
At the Ministry of Trade, his 4 KPIs became benchmarks of effective leadership and accountability.
Through it all, Chithyola Banda remains grounded in his faith, trusting God and maintaining friendships across divides. His humility, diligence, and integrity continue to speak louder than the voices of slander.
This is the Simplex Chithyola Banda we know—a visionary, a reformer, a man of faith and compassion, whose legacy will not be defined by rumours but by results.
