Jane Ansah Foundation Supports University Student with Short Stature

The Jane Ansah Foundation has come to the rescue of a University of Malawi student with short stature by providing him with food, groceries, pocket money, transport money and school necessities.

The beneficiary, Kingsley James Tembo, is a second-year student pursuing Library and Information Sciences at the University of Malawi.

Tembo, who hails from Kafukule Village in Mzimba, approached the foundation after facing challenges in meeting some of his daily needs while at university.

The university is expected to reopen on August 31, 2026.

Tembo has thanked Vice President Dr Jane Ansah and the foundation for the assistance, saying it will help him settle back into college and concentrate on his studies.

He said he was also encouraged by the warm reception he received when he met Dr Ansah at her residence in Lilongwe.

“I did not expect to be welcomed in the way I was,” Tembo said.

He said people with short stature are not always easily accepted in society, making the support particularly meaningful to him.

Acting Board of Trustees Chairperson Reverend Rodgers Tenthema Edward Kamanga said the foundation is committed to helping vulnerable people become self-reliant through education, skills development and other forms of support.

Kamanga said the foundation is currently reviewing a five-pillar strategic plan, which includes socio-economic empowerment and is aligned with Malawi’s Vision 2063.

He said the support given to Tembo was aimed at helping him achieve his educational ambitions rather than making him dependent on others.

“Kingsley has a vision for his future and what he needed was a destiny helper,” Kamanga said.

The foundation also supports elderly people, people with disabilities, people with albinism and other vulnerable members of society.
