The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has assured the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) that it will provide its response tomorrow, 18th March, to a complaint regarding reports that the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) has awarded a contract to Savari, a company linked to businessperson Zuneth Sattar.
In a complaint submitted to the ACB, CDEDI, through its executive director, Silvester Namiwa, called for an investigation into the reports.
The letter notes that Sattar is currently suspended from conducting any business with the Malawi government until the corruption cases he is facing in the United Kingdom are finalised.
In a letter addressed to Namiwa and signed by ACB Director General Gabriel Chembezi, the bureau indicated that it is treating the complaint with urgency.
The letter further commended Namiwa for his vigilance in the fight against corruption in the country.
