A 24-year-old woman in Neno has been sentenced to 11 years in prison with hard labour for forcing a 17-year-old boy to have sexual intercourse with her.
The Neno First Grade Magistrate’s Court convicted Teleza Steven of Mbilizi Village after she pleaded guilty to the offence.
The court heard that on 25 August, Steven took the boy’s cellphone without his consent, prompting him to follow her to her home to retrieve it.
The state prosecutor, Inspector Levison Musote, told the court that upon reaching her home, Steven forced the boy to have sex with her.
The boy later developed pain in his private parts and reported the matter to his mother.
Medical tests at Neno District Hospital showed that he had contracted a sexually transmitted infection.
Steven asked the court for leniency, saying she has two children who depend on her.
However, Musote asked for a stiffer sentence to deter others from committing similar offences, a plea that First Grade Magistrate Margret Khobili agreed with.
