The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development on Monday morning undertook a tour of office sections within the Ministry to appreciate the work of officers and to motivate staff who uphold the value of service delivery.
During the tour, the Minister applauded sections that had full staff attendance, noting that Mondays are often marked by excuses for absenteeism.
He was particularly impressed with the Planning and Administration Section, which was fully present and holding its weekly planning meeting under the leadership of the Director of Planning and Policy, Mr. Flemings Nyirenda.
In recognition of their commitment, the Minister committed to buy lunch for the section. Each member of staff walked away with a MK40,000 lunch allowance for the day.
The Minister reiterated that service delivery must not be compromised and that such dedication by public officers must be recognized and encouraged.
