The Malawi Enterprise Development Fund (MEDF) has warned members of the public against obtaining loan application forms from unauthorized sources.
Its Chief Executive Officer Kaisi M’bwana Sadala, in a stastement said all loan application forms should be collected directly from its offices or through duly authorized MEDF officers.
The fund has specifically cautioned prospective borrowers against downloading loan application forms from online platforms, stressing that such forms may not be genuine.
“Members of the public are advised to obtain loan application forms only from MEDF offices and authorized MEDF officers,” reads part of the statement.
Sadala said the institution is committed to ensuring that loan application processes remain transparent and secure, urging Malawians to be cautious when dealing with individuals claiming to represent the fund.
The warning comes as MEDF continues to roll out affordable loan products aimed at supporting small-scale businesses, women, youth and other vulnerable groups across the country.
MEDF, a government-owned microfinance institution headquartered in Lilongwe, was relaunched earlier this year following its rebranding from the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).
The institution is implementing a new strategic plan focused on expanding access to finance while strengthening loan recovery mechanisms.
The fund has since appealed to the public to verify any loan-related information through official MEDF channels and report suspected fraudulent activities to the relevant authorities.
