Engineer Newton Kambala has resigned as advisor to UTM president Dalitso Kabambe, citing the council’s failure to provide effective strategic guidance ahead of the September 16, 2025 polls.
In a resignation letter dated October 16, 2025, and addressed to the party’s secretary general, Kambala said the Presidential Advisory Council has not fulfilled its core role.
Reads part of the letter: “As an advisor I feel the Presidential Advisory Council has not been effective in advising the President on strategic decisions prior to the general elections, which is unfair to the President, Rt Hon Dr Dalitso Kabambe, the Party and Malawi as an economy.”
Kambala confirmed his resignation in an interview but said he remains a loyal UTM member.
