The Malawi Orthopaedic Association will hold its 2026 Annual Symposium, Scientific Conference and General Meeting at Boadzulu in Mangochi on September 24 and 25.
The conference will run under the theme “Advancing Fracture Care Through Evidence, Innovation and Collaboration.”
Public Relations Officer Robin Sydney Kajasiche said the theme reflects the need to use research and evidence, embrace innovation and strengthen collaboration among healthcare professionals and institutions.
“The conference is important because it gives healthcare professionals and other stakeholders a platform to share knowledge, research, and clinical experience; discuss current approaches to fracture and trauma care; and identify practical solutions to challenges in resource-limited settings,” Kajasiche said.
He said this year’s programme will focus on open tibial fracture management in resource-limited settings, giving professionals an opportunity to discuss challenges they face in providing care and possible approaches suited to the local healthcare environment.
“The conference will bring together professionals and stakeholders from across the healthcare sector, including healthcare professionals, researchers and representatives of organisations and industry partners,” he said.
Kajasiche said organisations and companies will also have an opportunity to showcase products, services, technologies and innovations relevant to orthopaedic and trauma care.
He said the field faces particular challenges in settings where healthcare facilities and professionals have limited resources.
“The emphasis is not simply on new technologies or ideas, but also on finding practical approaches that can work within resource-limited settings,” Kajasiche said.
He encouraged healthcare professionals, researchers, organisations and other stakeholders to attend the meeting and share their experiences.
“It is also an opportunity to discuss openly the challenges we face in fracture and trauma care and work together towards practical solutions,” he said.
