Minister of Lands Chimwemwe Chipungu has reaffirmed government’s commitment to accelerating development in line with the Malawi 2063 national development agenda.
Chipungu made the remarks on Thursday after meeting the management team of Lucheza Municipal Council to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at promoting local and sustainable development.
Chipungu who is also Member of Parliament for the area said government’s focus is to ensure that Lucheza is adequately equipped and modernised as Malawi advances its plans for the development of secondary cities.
“As Malawi advances its vision for the development of secondary cities, our priority is to ensure that Lucheza is not left behind, but is instead equipped, modernised, and strategically positioned to achieve sustainable growth,” Chipungu said.
He said the government remains committed to implementing initiatives that will contribute to transforming Malawi into a developed and prosperous nation as envisaged under Malawi 2063.
“Our commitment to transforming Malawi into a developed and prosperous nation remains steadfast. We will continue to drive progress and implement initiatives that contribute to the achievement of Malawi 2063,” he said.
Malawi 2063 is the country’s long-term development vision, which seeks to transform Malawi into a wealthy, self-reliant and industrialised nation.
