Truth, Patience and Restoration: The Case of VP Dr Jane Ansah and Bishop Joseph Ansah

There are moments in life that remind us of the importance of seeking the truth before passing judgment. In an age of instant opinions and social media commentary, facts are sometimes overlooked while speculation takes centre stage.

The Bible teaches in Galatians 6:7 that, “A man reaps what he sows.” The words we speak about others are seeds, and one day they produce a harvest. For that reason, fairness, honesty and truth should always guide our public discussions.

Last December, Her Honour Dr. Jane Mayemu Ansah, SC, JA (RTD), the Vice President of Malawi, became the subject of public criticism and speculation following her trip to the United Kingdom. Some claimed that she had travelled for a birthday celebration and used this narrative to question her priorities and intentions.

However, the reality was very different. The trip was undertaken at a time when her husband, Bishop J. Ansah, had been admitted to hospital and required the support and presence of his family during a challenging period. What was essentially a private family matter was unfortunately transformed into a public controversy by those who chose speculation over verified facts.

Today, the truth is evident. By the grace of God, Bishop J. Ansah has recovered and has since been seen accompanying his wife at public events. His recovery stands as a testimony to faith, perseverance, family support and God’s faithfulness.

Psalm 30:5 reminds us that, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Seasons of difficulty do not last forever. Challenges come and go, but truth remains unchanged.

This experience should encourage all of us to be more careful in our judgments. Matthew 7:2 warns that the measure we use to judge others will also be used to judge us. Before accepting rumours or spreading unverified claims, we should seek the facts and remember that every story has details that may not be immediately visible to the public.

The recovery of Bishop J. Ansah is not only good news for his family and loved ones; it is also a reminder that truth ultimately prevails over speculation. It calls on all of us to choose understanding over assumptions, compassion over criticism and truth over misinformation.

There is God in heaven who sees beyond headlines, public opinion and political narratives. He knows the truth behind every situation and the motives behind every action.

NB: Rumours may travel fast, but truth endures. In the end, facts matter, and God’s grace brings restoration.
