Vice President Ansah to Grace Anglican Mothers’ Union 150th Anniversary

Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah is expected to attend the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Mothers’ Union under the Anglican Church of the Province of Central Africa this Saturday April 11 in Lilongwe.

The commemorative event will be held at Bambino Private Schools in Area 15 and is being hosted by the Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi.

Dr Ansah, who will attend as Guest of Honour, is expected to join about 2,400 women drawn from the four Anglican provinces of Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Bishops and clergy from across the provinces are also expected to attend the milestone celebration.

The anniversary marks 150 years of the Mothers’ Union, a key Anglican women’s movement known for its role in promoting family welfare, community development and Christian values.

According to the programme, the service will be led by Archbishop Dr Albert Chama from Zambia, who will serve as both celebrant and preacher.

Proceedings will be directed by Reverend Canon Njalam’mano Banda, General Secretary of the Anglican Council in Malawi.

Activities are scheduled to begin in the morning with exhibitions and the arrival of clergy, followed by the official reception of the Guest of Honour.

The event will include worship, addresses and exhibitions showcasing the history and achievements of the Mothers’ Union.

Organisers say the celebration is a significant moment for the Anglican Church in Central Africa, bringing together members from across the region to reflect on a century and a half of service and faith.
