Construction of Jamia Limadina University at BCA Hill in Blantyre is expected to expand access to higher education, with the facility projected to accommodate up to 1,000 boarding students once completed.
The university project is being implemented by Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF), an international humanitarian organization that is also supporting vulnerable communities in Malawi through various relief programmes.
Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleman toured the construction site at BCA Hill before attending a Ramadan food distribution event in Chigumula BCA Club Banana Constituency.
Suleman commended the foundation for investing in education through the construction of the university, describing the project as an important development that will benefit students from across the country.

FGRF Director of Media and Communications Ibrahim Omar Mataya said the university is expected to start operations in February 2027 and will offer free education to students.
Mataya said the institution will accommodate about 1,000 boarding students and aims to contribute to expanding learning opportunities for young people.
Meanwhile, the foundation also distributed food packs to about 1,500 vulnerable families in the area as part of its Ramadan relief programme.
The food packs, which included maize flour, cooking oil, sugar and salt, are part of a nationwide campaign that has so far reached nearly 22,000 families across Malawi.

FGRF says the initiative is aimed at supporting vulnerable households during the holy month of Ramadan while complementing government efforts to address hunger affecting many communities.
