ACB ASKED TO INVESTIGATE BWB BOARD CHAIR

Pressure is mounting on the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to launch a full-scale investigation into Blantyre Water Board (BWB) Board Chairperson Stanley Chirwa following serious allegations of abuse of office, interference in procurement processes, and violations of corporate governance rules.

At the centre of the allegations is the reported cancellation of a crucial tender opening process after procurement officials allegedly raised concerns that the exercise did not comply with established procedures.

The development has sparked growing concern among stakeholders and some board members who asked for anonymity ,who fear that governance and accountability at the institution may have been compromised.

The stakeholders are now calling on the ACB to carry out an independent and transparent investigation to establish whether public procurement laws, corporate governance principles, and other legal requirements were breached.
