National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has committed a K100 billion loan facility to the Roads Fund Administration for the construction of the Chamtulo–Golomoti Road in Dedza, reiterating commitment to financing transformative infrastructure projects that drive Malawi’s economic development.
The financing will support the construction of the strategic road, which is expected to improve connectivity between Dedza and Mangochi districts while enhancing access to markets, healthcare, education and other essential services.
Groundbreaking ceremony to be attended by representatives from the Government of Malawi, the Roads Fund Administration, the Roads Authority, contractor Mota-Engil and NBM plc will take place on Wednesday, July 15.
NBM plc Chief Executive Officer, Harold Jiya, said the financing reflects the Bank’s unwavering commitment to supporting projects that create lasting value for the country.

The Chamtulo–Golomoti Road is expected to become an important transport link that will ease the movement of people and goods between the central and eastern regions of the country while supporting the Government’s broader infrastructure development agenda.
Beyond improving mobility, the project is expected to strengthen value chains in agriculture, expand access to tourism destinations, improve service delivery and encourage private sector investment in communities served by the road.
